✈️ How to Get to Barcelona

Barcelona is an international hub with excellent connections by air, rail, and road.

By Air

Barcelona is served by Barcelona–El Prat International Airport (BCN), located approximately 20 km from the city centre.

From the airport, you can reach the city by:

  • Aerobus (direct service to Plaça Catalunya)
  • Metro (L9 Sud)
  • Train (R2 Nord line)
  • Taxi (approximately 20–30 minutes depending on traffic)

🚆 By Train

Barcelona has a major international railway hub: Barcelona Sants Station, the city’s main long-distance and high-speed train station.

Barcelona Sants offers AVE high-speed trains and other national and international rail connections linking Barcelona with cities such as Madrid, Zaragoza, Valencia, Alicante, Bilbao, Pamplona, Lyon, and Paris, among others.

From Barcelona Sants, the venue can be reached easily by metro, bus, regional train (Rodalies), or taxi.

🚗 By Car

Barcelona is accessible via major highways (AP-7, C-31, C-32).

Please note that parking in the city centre is limited and regulated. Public transport is strongly recommended.

The venue is located in the 22@ innovation district, in the Poblenou area of Barcelona.

We strongly recommend using public transport.

The following bus lines have stops near the venue:

Nearest stop:

From there, it is a short walk to Carrer del Perú, 52.

From either station, the venue is approximately a 10–15 minute walk.

🚖 Taxi & Ride Services

Taxis and ride-hailing services (Uber, Cabify, Bolt) operate throughout the city and provide direct access to the venue.

RENFE is offering a 5% discount (on all fares) on trains to Barcelona to all attendees of the 50th Regional Studies Meeting, Congress of the Spanish Association of Regional Science.

To take advantage of the discount, please send an email to info@aecr.org with proof of registration payment. We will then send you the discount voucher as soon as possible.
Tickets on domestic routes, one-way and/or round-trip, to and from Barcelona, ​​are 5% off. Travel period is between October 19 and 25, 2026.

Barcelona is a city with high tourist demand throughout the year. For this reason, we strongly recommend booking your accommodation as early as possible.
